The number from "Hell's Kitchen" seemed to run twice as long the time allotted to most other shows, which was rather unfair to other shows. Plus it was downright deceptive to possible ticket-buyers by making it seem like Alicia Keys is actually in the show.

The opening number was very underwhelming, and there should be a new host next year. It might have been better for Ms. DeBose had she rappelled down from the 5th Ring to the lobby in the interior of the theater. She did much better last year with her leap down the stairs and with her overall performance.

Quite a few of the acceptance speeches were rather presumptuous, being overwrought and/or too lengthy, and I was surprised many weren't cut off sooner. The numbers I thought worked best were actually "Illinoise" with some lovely choreography and "Water For Elephants", but then again, I did like the circus growing up and liked the acrobats and some of the stagecraft on display. The "Willkommen" number from "Cabaret" had a very puzzling kind of performance from Eddie Redmayne, with weird body movements which gave no sort of hint of what he was trying for in terms of a characterization. The "Merrily" performance worked well, much better than the concert version recently done on Stephen Colbert's show without staging.

It's nice to see the Broadway community get together to celebrate, but I was rather disappointed in this year's show. They really spread the awards around this year though -- don't think any show got more than 3 or 4 wins. Anyone have the breakdown?
