I was at one auction--not at Doyle, but I hear they are run pretty much the same. I set a limit of $200 for an item that was estimated at $150. Before I could blink, they were at $1,000.
so be quick.
At Doyle yesterday, I saw about four books I'd like to have, but they were spread over three lots. So I probably won't be bidding, but I am going to the auction. At the very least, I got a souvenir booklet and the catalog as keepsakes.
Also, I thought his collection of Peanuts books was amusing. I have them all, but I was surprised he saved his. |
