| Boop is supposedly opening on Broadway in the spring, which could give her a big edge of any lead actresses that had their fanfare happen in the fall or winter. Maybe Happy Ending (starring Darren Criss too) opens in the fall. Is Queen of Versailles for sure coming in the next Tony season? At this point they might be very smart to hold off when Kristen is more assured to win. But her winning her (only) 2nd Tony, and first for lead, against the formerly presumed winner Nicole, Audra, Sutton, and Idina would be an incredible story. Her losing again would not. Especially if it's to Audra for her *7th* win or Sutton for her 3rd, or Nicole for her first Broadway show. (I don't think Sutton has a strong shot at it this year but who knows) I don't think, in this season, anyone from Old Friends has a chance in hell of a nomination. But Bernadette and Lea could somehow prove me wrong. It's not even about their performances, I just think it is an extraordinarily packed season of Broadway star favorites in great roles... picking just 5 is going to exclude some very heavy hitters and/or some very deserving newer stars regardless. |
