RIPLEY isn't better than the terrific film, but rather is just a different take on the material. For what it's worth, I've heard that the series hews closer to the original novel than the film does.
I loved the series, although I found, at times, that it was difficult to watch due to the heightened tension and the claustrophoboic atmosphere. Scott's performance is excellent and he's throughly believable in the role, even if, in real life, he's probably a bit too old for it. I actually had no idea how old he was until you mentioned it. He can definitely pass for a decade or so younger.
If you enjoy Scott's work, it would be a shame to miss this. |
