| I bought tickets for Encore's Titanic. I first went to TodayTix which I have used often for years. It was always my understanding that the origin, the very existence of TodayTix, was to be a ticket discount service much like TKTS but on an app. When I looked in the balcony section, tickets were being sold for $71 with NO CHOICE IN SEAT SELECTION. The seats will be "best available" it says. So naturally I went to the City Centers website to look at individual seats because I really don't like being too far back in the balcony at City Center. On their website, the breakdown in prices goes as such: 1)1st four rows of the balcony go for $95(total, with fees included) 2)the first half of the rest of the balcony goes for $70 (total, with fees included) 3)the second half of the rest of the balcony goes for $45 (total, with fees included). Because the TodayTix's balcony price was $71 I naturally assumed that they would be the $95 seats in the first 4 rows. My logic was: TodayTix doesn't sell full price tickets right? so these $71 can't be the $70 seats. And NO WAY IN HELL would they have the audacity to sell the $45 seats for $71...therefore they MUST be the $95 seats in the first 4 rows. So I got them. Still having a paranoid feeling after the purchase, I messaged TodayTix on their app to confirm this. To my shock, they emailed back stating that they cannot guarantee that their prices are discounted! In other words... yes it's possible that I bought one of those $70 seats or worse a $45 seat, exactly where I didn't want to sit! I called City Center to see if they can access the seats and they informed me that they do not have access to this information so they too have no idea what seats I got. I will only find out on the day of the performance. Am I misremembering or did their business model change? I always thought TodayTix was a discount ticket service. What kind of insanity is this that there is a chance I bought a seat at twice the face value on TodayTix? |
