ANNOUNCED FROM THE STAGE AT THE BOWERY ELECTRIC

New York, NY (Wednesday, June 4) – Last night, Tony Award nominated composer Will Butler announced from the stage at The Bowery Electric, that the hit Broadway play and the most Tony Award-nominated play of all time, Stereophonic by David Adjmi, has been extended by popular demand for 20 additional weeks, through January 5, 2025. Directed by Tony Award nominee Daniel Aukin, Stereophonic was originally scheduled to run for a total of 14 weeks.

The concert at The Bowery Electric, where the entire score of Stereophonic was performed, included special performances from Broadway legends Amber Gray and John Gallagher, Jr.

With a total of 13 Tony Award nominations, this record-breaking production of Stereophonic features Tony Award nominee Will Brill as Reg, Andrew R. Butler as Charlie, Tony Award nominee Juliana Canfield as Holly, Tony Award nominee Eli Gelb as Grover, Tony Award nominee Tom Pecinka as Peter, Tony Award nominee Sarah Pidgeon as Diana, Chris Stack as Simon; and is produced by Sue Wagner, John Johnson, Seaview, Sonia Friedman Productions, Linden Productions, and Ashley Melone & Nick Mills.

The original cast recording of Stereophonic was just released digitally through Sony Masterworks Broadway on May 10, with the physical CD release set for June 14. The album is available for preorder now.

Stereophonic is currently playing at the Golden Theatre (252 W. 45th St.). Tickets are on sale now at the Golden Theatre office, online at Telecharge, or by calling 212-239-6200. For more information, visit StereophonicPlay.com.

In his Critic’s Pick review, Naveen Kumar of The New York Times exclaimed, “Stereophonic is a staggering achievement, and already feels like a must-see American classic.”

Stereophonic mines the agony and the ecstasy of creation as it zooms in on a music studio in 1976. Here, an up-and-coming rock band recording a new album finds itself suddenly on the cusp of superstardom. The ensuing pressures could spark their breakup — or their breakthrough. In Stereophonic, Adjmi invites the audience to immerse themselves—with fly-on-the-wall intimacy—in the powder keg process of a band on the brink of blowing up.

The Stereophonic creative team includes Tony Award nominee David Zinn (scenic designer), Tony Award nominee Enver Chakartash (costume designer), Tony Award nominee Jiyoun Chang (lighting designer), Tony Award nominees Butler and Justin Craig (orchestrations) Tony Award nominee Ryan Rumery (sound designer), Justin Craig (music director), and Gigi Buffington (voice, text, and dialect coach). Casting is by Alaine Alldaffer and Taylor Williams, CSA.
