FWIW - my seventh grade teacher read 'The Outsiders' aloud to us in the early 80s. Every single kid in the class was riveted, boys and girls. I'm a girl (old lady.....?) and I remember absolutely loving it. My son's seventh grade class (both boys and girls) just read it. He says everybody liked it, but not everybody loved it.
Of course, a girl *wrote* it. ;)
Just a report from the front. Good reminder to have my son read some Judy Blume (besides 4th Grade Nothing and Superfudge) soon. |
