Nothing original here by stating that I think Gypsy is the best overture of all time, and my personal favorite. Perhaps an interesting side disucssion might be WHY. Of course the tunes are great, but other shows have great tunes but not necessarily an overture that sizzles. The order of the songs, which instruments are assigned to which parts, other reasons?

I also really love the Overture to Nine. I think it would probably be beautiful if it was performed traditionally with just instrumnets, but the assigning of the parts, instead, to the company to deliver vocally, along with staging that usually sets the scene and offers some cool surprises (depending on the director) is always a big winner in my book. I also really love the Entr'Acte which I didn't first hear until getting the 2 CD London Concert.
