| I was also at the first preview last night and was very pleasantly surprised. I guess I was prepared for something didatic, but was completely won over by a musical that was compelling, tuneful, lyrically sharp and ultimately moving. At the curtain call, they honored members of the company making their Broadway debuts -- and closed with the amazing Shaina Taub who is making her debut as a "quadruple threat" -- writing the book, score, and lyrics for the show in addition to starring. I wouldn't be surprised if she ends up with 4 Tony nominations. Im sure they will continue to tighten the show during previews but its already highly recommendable. |
