| I was also at the first preview but didn't leave feeling like this was the next great musical--or even a good one. The music all sounded very similar and I felt Ms. Taub was good but not a standout - her voice is lovely but I longed for someone with really big pipes, especially at climatic moments. The choreography was a bit strange and I thought the performances were a bit uneven. I did like a few of the songs, I just felt they were too alike. A couple of them felt like they were pandering to the crowd too much instead of telling a story, if that makes sense. Some of the lyrics were questionable. The crowd, which I suspect was friends and family, was very much into it. I wish it well, it just wasn't for me. |
