Not originally. In Bounce it was written for Wilson and Nellie. Technically, if we're going to include songs that got repurposed in a gay context, we'd also have to include music from the new Company revival also, either with new lyrics by Sondheim or with his approval ("Today is for Jamie" for instance).
That said, "The Best Thing" is a great song. One of his few gay-themed love songs. :-) |
