In the 1967 revival of "The Little Foxes" Anne Bancroft was Regina, Margaret Leighton was Birdie and George C. Scott was Ben and E.G. Marshall was Oscar. In December 1967, Margaret Leighton switched over to Regina after Bancroft left. E.G. Marshall moved over to Ben and Scott McKay stepped in as Oscar. Felicia Monteliagre (Mrs. Leonard Bernstein) took over as Birdie. It played only for a month after the cast changes.

The opening cast of the Yasmina Reza play "God of Carnage": Jeff Daniels played Alan and the late James Gandolfini was Michael. Later on when I saw it Jeff Daniels moved into the role of the scruffy Michael and Dylan Baker stepped in as Alan. I went to see that cast because it included the luminous Janet McTeer.

Also all the way back in 1960, "Becket" - Laurence Olivier started the run as Becket with Anthony Quinn as Henry II. At some point Olivier moved into the role of Henry II and Arthur Kennedy stepped in as Becket.
