Raúl Esparza and Martha Plimpton have also received 3 nominations in 3 years, and it was the same 3 years for both: 2007, 2008 and 2009.

There are also a lot less shows being produced on Broadway nowadays, so if you're fortunate and talented enough to get cast and give a fine performance in a Broadway production, you have a better chance of getting nominated than in some years past. Plenty of fine performances and productions weren't nominated when there was a plethora of shows being done. Also, short runs, limited runs and shows that closed also tended to be overlooked, too, when there were a lot of shows then running that were then currently available for one to go to see.

36 shows this season and broadway journal estimated $410m this season.

Last season was 37.

I don’t have actual numbers but I think most of the 2010s were in the 30s. The 90s might have actually been less some years.

I think you’d have to go back to the 40s or 50s to find number of productions above 40.

I don't feel like doing all the research now, but seasons in the 1960s often had more than than 60 shows, and I am fairly sure that most seasons in the 1960s had more than 50 shows and some probably had more than 60.
