A burlesque tale about the meaning of romantic Love, LOVE'S CONCORDIA BAR will play for one weekend at The Flea (20 Thomas St, New York, NY, 10007). Performances begin Wednesday, April 16th, and continue through Saturday, April 19th. Pragma, a young woman navigating her first relationship, suspects her girlfriend Ludus—distant and not exactly the picture of empathy—might be cheating on her. Determined to uncover the truth, Pragma decides to follow Ludus one night. Her pursuit leads her to LOVE'S CONCORDIA BAR, a mysterious burlesque club owned and operated by Love itself. The bar has only one rule for entry—there's no age limit, but you must be in Love to step inside. But are Pragma and Ludus truly in Love Amid dazzling, sultry musical numbers, Pragma and Ludus encounter a colorful cast of eccentric and endearing characters, each with unique lessons about the nature of Love. As the young couple navigates the bar's whimsical and thought-provoking world, they must confront their feelings and ask themselves if their connection meets Love's high standards—or if they'll be shown the door. The concept for the production originated from a simple yet profound question posed to forty people: "What is romantic love" From their responses, nine characters emerged—each embodying a different, archetypal take on what it means to love and be loved. "LOVE'S CONCORDIA BAR is not your typical love story," says writer/director Eduardo Tesio. "This is an analysis of romantic love. Why does romantic love create a strong dependency for so many people Each of our characters represents a type of love - obsessive, puppy, self-love, polyamory, and more. The show wants to make the audience laugh, dance, and think in the span of an hour and a half." The production stars Ariana Perez (ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK, Netflix), Mia Pelosi (SUPERMARKET 86, New York Theatre Festival), Olivia Altair, Essence Blake, Annelise Brooks Laakko, Vanessa Fry, Quenisha Moss, Emilia Nunez, Soraya Omtzigt, Matthew Ramos, Tomoka Takahashi, Edoardo Tesio, and Cameron Tino. BIOGRAPHIES EDOARDO TESIO (Playwright/Directo) is an Italian New York-based playwright, director, producer, and performer. He has a BFA with Honors in Drama and a minor in Producing from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. Since 2017, he has self-produced and directed nine original theatre shows, focusing on sexual empowerment, self-growth, and personal freedom. He brought his shows to off-Broadway theaters, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the New York Theatre Festival, American regional theaters, and Italian theaters. His eighth original show, debuted at Teatro Vittoria in Torino in December 2023. He is an integral part of Company della Luna, a New York-based theater company that makes pop theater shows about human emotions set in imaginary worlds. MARJORIE MURILLO (Playwright) is a proud Salvadoran-American Latina actress, playwright, singer, dancer, and director based in New York City, USA. She is an alumna of the undergraduate Drama department at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, where she trained in experimental theatre and on-screen acting. Marjorie is the co-writer of LOVE'S CONCORDIA BAR and a founding member of Theatre Company della Luna. LOVE'S CONCORDIA BAR is her 6th production with the company, having previously worked on VANITY, CONCORDIA (NYC), LA BELLE EPOQUE, LE BAJOU DE PARIS (off-Broadway), and LA LINFA DEL BELLAGIO (Turin, Italy). COMPANY DELLA LUNA (Producer) is a New York City-based theater company that creates original pop theater shows that blend acting, music, and dance. Founded by five former New York University students from five different countries, the company has collaborated with over 150 artists from 14 nations. Known for crafting imaginative worlds that explore human emotions, Company della Luna aims to make audiences laugh, think, and dance within 90 minutes. Dedicated to diversity and representation, the company tells stories that naturally include LGBTQ+ characters, various genders, races, and body types without focusing solely on identity. Their shows embrace normalization by letting characters exist authentically, such as a queen's betrayal driven by power rather than her sexuality. Since its founding, Company della Luna has produced five original shows across off-Broadway theaters, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the Lovers Film Festival, and beyond, earning praise from Broadway World, The Daily Brit, Counter Culture, and more.
