FATHER ANONYMOUS Father Anonymous, an Off-Broadway Play in Two Acts at AMT Theater, Dramatizes the Story of America's Forgotten Founder Dr. Joseph Warren, Who led the Outbreak of the Revolutionary War Until George Washington Took Over as Commander in Chief. Premiering from Friday, June 13 to Wednesday, July 2, 2025, Father Anonymous by playwright and constitutional historian Robert Blecker reminds a divided nation of constitutional principles that transcend politics to help kick off America's 250th birthday celebration. New York, NY – February 18, 2025 – Father Anonymous will debut in New York City from Friday, June 13 to Wednesday, July 2, 2025 Off-Broadway at the newly renovated 99-seat AMT Theater, located at 354 West 45th Street. The play tells the story of America's forgotten founder Dr. Joseph Warren and his more famous friends, Samuel Adams, John Hancock and Paul Revere. Opening on the eve of the Boston Massacre (1770) and closing with Joseph's martyrdom at Bunker Hill (1775), this drama can remind a divided Nation of Constitutional principles that transcend politics – and a larger-than-life person, largely forgotten, to celebrate in common and guide us. "Our essential past defines us and can keep us on course," playwright Robert Blecker explained. "Fourteen counties and hundreds of towns and landmarks are named for Joseph, this great person of action, principle and sacrifice. And yet 250 years later, Joseph has largely fallen into obscurity. Ideally Father Anonymous will help bring him back to life, like Longfellow's poem restored Paul Revere to America." Playwright Robert Blecker taught Constitutional History for over 40 years at New York Law School. A post-graduate Harvard fellow in Law and Humanities, he has long sought to integrate drama and history. His Vote 'NO!' – a dramatic monologue that presented the best case against the Constitution by those who opposed it in 1787-1788 – premiered at the Kennedy Center and traveled to 16 states. Father Anonymous has had several public readings, including Fraunces Tavern and the Ensemble Studio Theatre. The cast of Father Anonymous will be announced in the coming weeks.
