I didn't get to see the whole show last night, but I DVR'd it. From what I did see, I thought that in general the writing/performing was better than a lot of recent episodes, and that includes the "musical" which I thought was very fun. And some really really great musical performances.

On the other hand, watching the pilot episode the night before was a bit of a disappointment. George Carlin, and the musical guests (Billy Preston and Janis Ian) were terrific, but not much else. But, fascinating to watch the show in its infancy before it had really gotten its stride.
