I saw this wonderful production - its the Off-Broadway Premiere of Ken Ludwig's Play DEAR JACK, DEAR LOUISE at 59e59 - a love letter to his parents and how they "met" via correspondence in World War II. Of all his plays, I think it's his most heartfelt. The performances by Michael Liebhauser as Jack and Alexandra Fortin are so fresh and fun - that you see them fall in love as this piece goes on and really feel their broken hearts and hope along the way.
Director Stephen Nachamie does a wonderful job of keeping the play moving, keeping their excitement and romance going and letting it breathe where it needs to.
I am so glad that Shadowland Stages and Penguin Rep brought this wonderful show to NYC.
It's playing at 59e59 through this sunday - 2/16. Go see it if you can. It's wonderful and the kind of play we need right now. |
