| (Y'all, what just happened? Did the internet know we were discussing this and shut it down ...) I wouldn't have thought making himself the head of the Kennedy Center would be worth the time of day, but it fits with his methods. He's bitterly angry at all the artists who publicly ridicule him, and his base is excited about destroying the "woke mind virus" and "restoring" Jesus to the center of American culture, so retconning the honors is exactly the kind of thing he will do and his people will love him for. In the interim, what is the solution that we are going to offer, because we're not going underground but we also can't rely upon what meager funding the government was still offering. How do we build our own version of culture that lies outside of their funding streams and their vision of "traditional Christian family values"? And sure, this current national nightmare might pass in a few years (or could be settling into a long run), but we're a terribly divided nation that has wild mood swings based upon the whims of a very small group of swing voters, and it's only creating dysfunction and chaos. If we can't find a way to unite, we need to find a way to divide, and building/solidifying our own progressive entertainment ecosphere is not only the best answer, it's what they're already doing, because they think we already did it. |
