Ack! You're right. In my head it got conflated with the debate happening about how Zoe is actually the lead, but being placed in Featured. Mixed with the situation that a movie telling a trans story with a trans lead actor is only getting acting awards for the cis woman.*

*(Again I haven't seen the movie yet to know if I think either Karla or Zoe or good, or great, or good despite bad material or good and the material is also good, or if I think either give Oscar worthy performances, and then if i think I'd vote for them over the others in their categories -- I'm just taking in the irony of Hollywood adopting this trans story and then giving the award the cis co-star -- and for those who are bothered by this kind of thing, it can't help that this Spanish-language film about Mexican characters has screenplay and songs by white French people (I'm not someone who believes only Mexicans can write Mexican characters or only a trans person can write/direct a trans story, etc, but I get it).
