I feel like I’m going crazy when I post an article that literally quotes from her directly, and then right away there’s another response saying “Why is the media so reluctant to print any of her quotes? I guess everyone just wants an excuse to cancel her.” Anyway I hate to treat anyone like a kindergartener but just to make this easy here are a few of the posts quoted in that very article and elsewhere: On Muslims: “ I’m Sorry, Is it just my impression or is there more muslims in Spain? Every time I go to pick up my daughter from school there are more women with their hair covered and their skirts down to their heels. Next year instead of English we’ll have to teach Arabic.” Attached to a photo of a Muslim family in a restaurant, including a woman in a burka: “Islam is marvelous, without any machismo. Women are respected, and when they are so respected they are left with a little squared hole on their faces for their eyes to be visible and their mouths, but only if she behaves. Although they dress this way for their own enjoyment. How DEEPLY DISGUSTING OF HUMANITY.” On the Korean band BTS: “ I’m fed up with the fact that every time I go looking for important news on Twitter, I get 200 of the f*cking Chinese BTS or 200 touching their d*cks.” On George Floyd: “ I really think that very few people ever cared about George Floyd, a drug addict swindler, but his death has served to once again demonstrate that there are people who still consider black people to be monkeys without rights and consider policemen to be assassins.” On Hitler: “I don’t understand so much about the world war against Hitler; he simply had his opinion about Jews.” On the Oscars themselves: “ More and more the #Oscars are looking like a ceremony for independent and protest films, I didn’t know if I was watching an Afro-Korean festival, a Black Lives Matter demonstration or the 8M… An ugly, ugly gala.” On China in February 2020: “ So many scientists in the world making bombs, so many scholars constructing objects for space, so many medicinal factories and there’s no one who can get in line with this Chinese shit. (shrug emoji) In the end, it was a tremendous show for a new variant of the flu, avian or coronavirus.” On China at the height of the pandemic a few months later: “… the Chinese vaccine, which apart from the mandatory chip, comes with two spring rolls, a cat that moves its hand, 2 plastic flowers, a pop-up lantern, 3 telephone lines and one euro for your first controlled purchase." There are many many more. I’m not sure what this has to do with Broadway so the mods should feel free to delete the entire thread - but when people repeatedly come on here saying “I just don’t understand why the media is piling on to pillory her without any evidence to back it up; she’s a victim of cancel culture simply because she’s a trans woman of color”, and without doing any research - it needs to be corrected for the record. (I mean I don’t see anyone complaining after his anti-Semitic posts that Kanye West is just being canceled because he’s a Black man.) |
