With REDWOOD I have spoken to several (more than 2) colleagues who have seen it, and read a number of posts etc. I'd say overwhelmingly negative. There are bad show, I actually love some pretty bad shows, LIKE HENRY SWEET HENRY. But I know it is a flawed show on many levels. IF/THEN was a miss. I''d say a 4 on a scale of 10 at best. From all that I am hearing, REDWOOD sounds more like a 3. But it doesn't seem to be a train wreck of massive joyous proportions like PIRATE QUEEN or SHOGUN the Musical, that you just have to see. Not many of those 'you cant miss this' flops seem to open any more. You know - GRIND, A DOLLS LIFE, BIG DEAL ,,, No, we get mind bendingly and shows like KING KONG and DR ZHIVAGO and TAMMY FAE which make you wish you were any other place on the planet. We all have flops we love (as long as we are honest enough to say they are not very good shows after all) like SOMETHINGS AFOOT, FLORA THE RED MENACE, MACK AND MABEL and THE WITCHES OF EASTWICK.It dsosnt make those shows good. I just enjoyed them flaws and all. Just as most of us have hts that we really dislike - my list includes HELLS KITCHEN, GREAT GATSBY, MOULIN ROUGE, APPROPRIATE and NIcole Scherzinger at the Kit Kat Klub (or are those two different shows?( THose shows made me very sorry to be at the theatre. Does that make them bad? I don't think so. But when I dislike a hot I have very clear reasons why the show displeased me.
