May I try to throw one tiny slice of perverse optimism onto your plate of woe? (Warning: I may miss the plate. When I was in college, I worked for (most of) one evening at a pizza place. I was not very good at it.) So far as I can tell, Trump's track record for getting the job done as promised has, so far, been terrible. (Luckily and fingers crossed that will persist for the future as well.) What he has not backed off of due to public opinion, impracticality, or whatever, courts have intervened to give him plenty of reason to throw a tantrum worthy of a two-year old. At the end of his four years, I hope historians will lean on Shakespeare and sum up his 2nd term (or whatever part of it he serves) as full of sound and fury and signifying nothing. By way of a sidebar, personally I think a lot of large non-profit theatres would benefit from a replacement of many board members. That said, I wonder if Trump knows he just fired a lot of Trumpies. Quick look at the board reveals his current Atty General and one of the De Vos's (Betsy was his 1st term Secy of Education), among several others. |
