which was a disappointment when I recall how thrillingly high Nancy Opal sang them in a full belt during the original
Opel told us once (in a video meet with the cast from my 2nd production of the show) that Mark Hollmann actually write those notes with the intention of being in head voice (though probably more of a full opera diva sound). Opel was experimenting in rehearsal one day and went with a mix/belt up there - and got a "keep it" - and the rest is history. But it would seem that Hollmann would not be upset with the notes in head voice. |
