Craig Bierko lays into this production in depth during one of his appearances on Gilbert Gottfried's podcast. He talks about how Oliver played the part too quietly, and Craig felt he should be playing it like Sergeant Bilko, "and he didn't have a director to say no." He also talks about how Alan Alda came to the show twice and gave him the line readings of the actors from the original production, demonstrating how much the original production owed to Yiddish theatre. Starts at the 43 minute mark. |
