I'd also give special mention to Shailene Woodley.
I loved the play. It could have ended after its second-to-last scene, but the actual last scene spoke volumes about the addictive need to belong to a family unit and gave it the ending Headland clearly intended.
The songs were Christmas-tinged Americana roots songs, or is that Americana-tinged Christmas songs? I knew most but not all of them, but I love folk-Americana roots music and I grew up celebrating Christmas. If you don't and if you didn't, it's understandable that you wouldn't know them. |
