Well, he seems to be pretty “castable” in roles you don’t think he’s right for. In fact, he won a Tony Award for one of them. So, yeah, maybe this discussion of notes is pointless, as you suggest.
When is an actor’s terrible performance the fault of the actor? Why do you place all the blame on the director? How do we ever praise an actor for a good performance if all the blame for a bad performance goes to the director? I don’t buy it. He was hopeless in the role. Sure, maybe the director did him no favors, but he’s the one who got up there and did it like that. Totally agree with you about the talk of his having been snubbed for a Tony nomination. That mystified me. |
