I don't recall ever hearing about Philadelphia theatres dimming their lights for anyone before.
But if anyone deserves such an honor, it's my friend Carrie Gorn. Nobody did more to support theatre and the arts in Philadelphia than her, and few were more beloved.
Last week she posted a rehearsal video for the City Center "Urinetown" on her Facebook, with the caption "I can't wait!" A few days later she was gone, struck down in the night by a sudden cardiac event at the young age of 49.
I'm heartbroken by her passing, but happy that the theatre community is taking some of that love she gave so fervently and giving it back to Carrie, her husband Chad, and their teenage daughter Rosie. |
