Lillian Hellman's THE NORTH STAR now on TCM

made when the soviet union and the USA were WWII allies. It starts of with enough singing happy dancing peasants to fill at least three musicals. it's set in the Ukraine which was not then or now a subject for laughs. But i'm amazed at how the smart and savvy Hellman sort of left her brains at the door in order to be positive about Russia; well the trouble is about to start so its back to watch NORTH STAR, which is almost camp. and i say this tho miss Hellman is one of my favorite playwrights, preferable(IMO) to Arthur Miller.
