THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 6, 2025 IN NEW YORK CITY

NEW YORK, NY — Art Lab (Meg Fofonoff, Producing Artistic Director; Megan Chacalos, Associate Producer) will present a private industry reading of The King's Critique, a new musical with music and lyrics by Nat Zegree and a book and lyrics by Eric Holmes. The reading will take place on Thursday, February 6, 2025 in New York City.

Prepare for an uproarious, toe-tapping romp through a fairytale kingdom where one brave woman takes on the crown, the stage, and society's stubborn "No!" to create a world where women belong in the spotlight. The King's Critique is a laugh-out-loud all-female satire, skewering American theater, politics, and the way women are constantly sidelined.

The reading of The King's Critique will feature Stephanie Park (Hamilton) as Josephine, Samantha Pauly (Six) as Sebastian, Bridget Beirne (That Time of Year) as Horace, Nasia Thomas (Six) as Cora, Ashley Loren (Moulin Rouge) as Isabella, Kennedy Caughell (Natasha, Pierre) as Woody, Marilyn Caserta (Six) as Mel, Autumn Best (Woman of the Hour) as Niel, Gaelen Gilliland (Wicked) as Carl, Analise Scarpaci (Mrs. Doubtfire) as Tim, and Sharon Catherine Brown (Days of Wine and Roses) as Virgil. . The ensemble cast will include Olivia Hardy, B Noel Thomas, Savannah Lee Birdsong, Tiffany Renee Thompson, and Gabrielle Policano.

Casting is by Tara Rubin Casting/Xavier Rubiano, CSA. Denise Savas and Allison Hohman serve as Stage Managers. LDK Productions serves as General Manager. Art Lab Productions (Meg Fofonoff and Megan Chacalos) is the producer.

ABOUT NAT ZEGREE

An entertainer to his core, Nat Zegree (Composer/Lyricist) has written three original musicals with Eric Holmes (CBS The Good Fight), including Fly More Than You Fall , which has received sold out praise and 11 Broadway World Awards in its pre-Broadway and London engagements. The show recently played off West End starring Keala Settle, where it was critically acclaimed, with The Guardian saying they were " blown away by the songs." The song itself comes from his solo album, also titled Fly More Than You Fall (available on all streaming platforms). A multitalented showman and classically trained pianist, Nat writes and performs his own original one-man shows and performs them globally, selling out some of the nicest regional venues including such New York City venues as 54 Below, Birdland, The Cutting Room, Joe's Pub, The Laurie Beechman Theatre, and many more. His music can be heard on the CBS original series The Good Fight, and he (literally) played Mozart in the first-ever production of Amadeus where Mozart plays all the music live on stage. He premiered as the first U.S. regional Jerry Lee Lewis in Million Dollar Quartet and Music Directs/stars in the show alongside director Hunter Foster, while performing over 550 performances as JLL at such theatres as Ogunquit Playhouse (2015/2016/2023, 2 Broadway World Awards winner), Papermill Playhouse (2017, Broadway World Award winner), Marriott Theatre (Chicago Jeff Award winner), and many more. His voice could be heard as a virtual singer in the Broadway hit musical, Dear Evan Hansen. ABOUT ERIC HOLMES

Eric Holmes (Book/Lyrics) has a proven track record of success on both stage and screen. Eric was a writer on the critically acclaimed TV series The Good Fight on Paramount+ for four seasons. His musical, Fly More Than You Fall, co-written with Nat Zegree, received nine regional Broadway World Awards, including Best Musical and Best New Work, at its premiere at the NOORDA Center in Orem, Utah and recently completed a six-week run at the Southwark Playhouse in London starring Keala Settle. His new musical Silk, written with Chilina Kennedy and Daniel Edmonds, is receiving a production in the fall of 2025. His musical, Born Country, that he wrote with his wife Erin Holmes, received a NYC workshop in 2024 helmed by Kenneth Ferrone (Grease Live!) He was a writer-in-residence at The New Harmony Project. Other credits include: Evil (CBS) and Smash (NBC).
