My "favorite" is "Paris makes me horny. Not like Californ-y."
Rachel York deserved a Tony nod just for her fortitude in going out there 8 times a week to try to put over the worst song ever written for a Broadway show. In contrast, her performance of "Chicago, Illinois," is even better than the original Leslie Ann Warren's version in the film. I hope whomever had the idea for her to steal/mock Julie Andrews' silde up the scale in "Le Jazz Hot" in this number to hilarious effect got a big raise. Just goes to show what a talented actress can do with good material and that even the most talented can't make miracles out of dreck. |
