''Out of Sight'' came out in 1998, just a year after Lopez's Golden Globe-nominated performance as the tejano star of ''Selena.''

It's possible that ''Maid in Manhattan'' (2002) and ''Gigli'' (2003) might've been the ''best'' of what she was offered then - especially as a Latina actress over 25 years ago. Also, they might've looked more promising on paper: starring with Ralph Fiennes in ''Maid'' and Ben Affleck in ''Gigli.''

In 2019, Lopez gained acclaim for ''Hustlers'' and won the Supporting Actress prize from the L.A. Film Critics and was nominated by the Golden Globes, the Critics Choice Awards and Screen Actors Guild. Even so, it wasn't enough to impress the Academy voters, who snubbed her for a nomination.

Based on these early reviews, ''Kiss of the Spider Woman'' looks like it might put Lopez back on the awards radar with Oscar buzz.
