I hardly think that “Sunset Blvd.” is a “cheap production” to operate on a weekly basis. Have you seen the show? Have you studied the credits on the title page and those buried deeper into the Playbill? Why would it take more than fifty above-the-title producers to bring it to Broadway? It must have a huge weekly payroll. After all, how many other shows have three “Video Techs”? And think about the crew, including extra security, that is required to support Joe’s nightly walkabout on 44th Street? And I wouldn’t be surprised if the show is paying the housing costs of the four principals who crossed the Atlantic with the production. You may be right that it will extend, but in order to do so it would have to be with a blockbuster star who can fill those seats. |
