I don't agree with the IndieWire critic's assessment of the score, but apparently he's not the only reviewer who feels that way.

Benjamin Lee in The Guardian gives ''Kiss of the Spider Woman'' 3 stars out of 5, and says:

''The songs themselves, from legendary 'Cabaret' and 'Chicago' duo Kander and Ebb, are largely rather forgettable with some often distractingly ungainly lyrics (an earworm exception is the fantastically slinky title song), but the setpieces that surround them are bright and buoyant enough to mostly distract.''

Whether a score or a set of songs are ''memorable'' or ''forgettable'' is always such a subjective call.

''Emilia Perez'' has 2 songs that have been nominated for Oscars and Critics Choice, and 1 of them won a Golden Globe, but their appeal totally eludes me.
