Their partnership was extraordinary. I wonder if people who were born later and only learned of it in the aftermath of their relationship's collapse grasp what it (and many of his other films) meant to so many of us.

Before any plans were announced to turn Six Degrees of Separation into a film (and I'm glad in the end it was filmed with Stockard Channing reprising her role) I imagined Woody being the perfect person to direct it, with Mia having the role of her life as Ouisa.
