I would've submitted ''A Complete Unknown'' for Comedy or Musical, since Timothee Chalamet does so much singing in this Bob Dylan biopic. And he probably would've won Best Actor in Comedy/Musical. Also, James Mangold, who directed ''A Complete Unknown,'' made ''Walk the Line,'' a biopic of Johnny Cash in 2005. But that was up for Comedy/Musical, and won Golden Globes for the film itself, as well as Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon.

But it seems more recent musical biopics, like ''Elvis'' and ''Bohemian Rhapsody,'' which won Golden Globes for Austin Butler and Rami Malek, respectively, were submitted for Drama. Maybe those movies felt that competing in Drama meant they'd be taken more seriously, than if they were in Comedy/Musical.
