We are all so different! I enjoy seeing Sutton Foster on stage, but for the exact opposite reason. I don't find her mesmerizing or larger-than-life at all. I think she seems very human-sized and very relatable. I've seen Foster in at least 8 different shows, and I'm trying to think of a time when she had a number or a moment when I was truly wowed. I think the closest are the title number tapping in Anything Goes (although, for me, that was more about her endurance than anything else); "Show Off" from The Drowsy Chaperone (again, more about endurance and the technical aspects than anything else); and her trying to get comfortable atop the stack of mattresses in Once Upon a Mattress (which was great physical comedy and very impressive, although even here, part of that was about the technical - how does she do that and not worry about falling off?). |
