All of them. The musical isn’t literally Isherwood, and while the Mendel’s revisions bring more of the actual man into the piece, it’s still a fiction and an echo of the person, in the same way that the Ishywoo in the stories is also a fiction an an echo of the actual man. It becomes part of the larger representation of his life and work, and is arguably the most successful representations of his life and work in terms of a mass audience.
