Milton Berle or Christian Borle? Milton gave one of the few good performances in the otherwise cheese-fest "The Oscar" and he's fine in "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" among other things; he usually knew about how far to take things to get laughs. Christian can be fine with a good director, but was apparently encouraged (or not directed to tone down) his excess hamming it up for his (to me, anyway, cringeworthy, when I saw a preview) over the top scenery-chewing in "Peter and the Starcatcher" (which still won him a Tony). I haven't seen "Titanique" but it seems te be aiming for some campiness in its advertisements, so some over the topness might be appropriate? |
