The meaning of the Tony award isn’t derived from false scarcity, it is derived from the excellence of the work and its value being recognized by fellow artisans.
If we want a model that truly restricts access, then perhaps we should only give out Best New Play/Musical and Best Revival and then a couple others if the work is so extraordinary. |
