I haven't sat down to watch it yet, but a couple years ago Paramount released a bluray of Ragtime that includes an alternate workprint cut of the film which runs about 20 minutes longer than the final version. Curious as to how that fleshes things out.

As with all workprints, in its current form, it was never intended for theatrical or other distribution so it will have defects, black and white footage, and other anomalies consistent with the editorial process." |
