At Broadway's Hudson Theatre for a STRICTLY LIMITED 14-WEEK ENGAGEMENT

(New York, NY) Seaview, ATG Productions and The Season are proud to announce the music team and orchestra for the first-ever Broadway production of Tony Award winner Jason Robert Brown's THE LAST FIVE YEARS. The production will feature music direction by Tom Murray, music contracting by Tomoko Akaboshi and brand-new orchestrations by Jason Robert Brown.

On the new orchestrations, Jason Robert Brown said they "will honor the intimacy and emotion of the score while also bringing a soaring new energy and power to match the greater panorama of a Broadway stage."

The 9-person orchestra will be led by conductor Paul Mutzabaugh (also on the piano/keyboard) and feature Fung Chern Hwei (violin/concertmaster), Maria Im (violin), Adda Kridler (violin/viola), Ken James Kubota (cello), Zachary Brown (cello), Hidayat Honari (guitar), Julia Adamy (bass), and Jamie Eblen (drums/percussion/celeste).

THE LAST FIVE YEARS, directed by Tony Award nominee Whitney White, will star Grammy and Golden Globe Award nominee Nick Jonas and Tony Award winner Adrienne Warren, and will feature choreography by Tony Award nominees Jeff Kuperman & Rick Kuperman, scenic design by Tony Award winner David Zinn costume design by Tony Award winner Dede Ayite, lighting design by Stacey Derosier, sound design by Tony Award winner Cody Spencer, wig & hair design by Academy Award winner Mia Neal, and production stage management by Cody Renard Richard. Baseline Theatrical's Andy Jones and James Hickey serve as General Managers.

THE LAST FIVE YEARS begins performances on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, and officially opens on Sunday, April 6, 2025 for a strictly limited, 14-week-only engagement at Broadway's Hudson Theatre (141 West 44th Street).

THE LAST FIVE YEARS follows two New Yorkers, rising author Jamie and aspiring actress Cathy, as they fall in and out of love over the course of five years. With an "extraordinary and jubilant" (Chicago Tribune) score, the musical explores whether a couple, once united by their dreams, can remain connected as their paths diverge.

PAUL MUTZABAUGH (Conductor/Piano/Keyboard) is a multi-instrumentalist and composer, originally from Chicago. Over the past 25 years, he has worked in a wide range of musical styles with a variety of notable artists, including: Heather Headley, Robbie Fulks, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Rufus Wainwright, Mannheim Steamroller, Miguel Zenón, Spektral Quartet, and John Elmquist. Recent theatre credits include world premieres of Midnight in the Garden of Good & Evil and The Matchbox Magic Flute (both Goodman Theatre), as well as the touring production of MJ: The Musical (Broadway in Chicago). Paul also leads his own ensemble, The Unknown New – equal parts chamber jazz and instrumental folk – for which he composes all of the material. Additionally, he has earned Grammy and Emmy nominations as a recording engineer and producer. Paul is delighted to be making his Broadway debut on The Last Five Years. paulmutzabaugh.com

TOMOKO AKABOSHI (Music Contracting), from Tokyo, became the first woman of color to music coordinate a Broadway musical ( A Strange Loop). She has been credited as music supervisor, producer, and coordinator for major orchestras, recordings, and musicals, including Broadway productions of Gypsy, Illinoise, A Strange Loop; video game soundtracks Elden Ring, Street Fighter; live productions Star Wars in Concert, "The Tonight Show" and orchestral tours with The Boston Symphony, and Tokyo Philharmonic. Tomoko has supervised productions in seven countries, and has performed with Alan Silvestri, Andrea Bocelli, Joe Hisaishi, Audra McDonald, Kurt Elling, as a violinist. Tomoko's passion for breaking down cultural and musical barriers led her to found the Tokyo Strings Workshop and The Resonance Collective, which have produced educational master classes and workshops with strings players of all ages participating from over 17 countries.
