| Pamela Payton-Wright was not Redgrave's understudy in Long Day's Journey. As someone previously mentioned, she played the role in Chicago in a precursor to the Broadway revival. Shortly into the Broadway run, Redgrave's mother died, which necessitated her missing a week of performances. Because she knew the role, Payton-Wright was brought in to temporarily replace her, but she wasn't typically standing by. |
