It does seem unfair that Atlantic was the first to negotiate with union and has to close shows. While other theaters waited in the wings for this to conclude. But you might be right that the theaters are uniting behind Atlantic behind the scenes. I don’t know which side is right. Workers should get fair wages but with signature cutting down the number of productions from 8 to 3 and second stage giving up it’s off broadway space to rent other theatres and several theatres doing joint productions within the city (not like joint production from two cities), it seems like a house of cards with salaries dwindling due to lack of productions and the union fighting to increase salaries causing even less productions A little off topic, but Walgreens keeps closing more stores in San Francisco they there just isn’t enough positions in the remaining stores to accommodate the employees. I talked to someone yesterday with over two decades with Walgreens who has no place to go. Like the theaters, with fewer productions there is just less workers needed. |
