Gosh, I’m so sorry we’re a bunch of wimpy Californians who lack the pluck of the wartime Brits. You can be the one to tell Harvey to get his sorry ass on the stage and start belting Cole Porter. Leaving aside the horrific situation of those who lost everything, thousands of us (including some of my family members) have been without power for eight days now. And all of us have had our nerves stretched thin. You may get occasional updates, ten minutes coverage of our situation per day. For us, it’s 24/7, partly because it’s one of the worst disasters to hit LA ever (and I was here for the Northridge and Sylmar quakes), and partly because this ain’t over. The two big fires are not contained and the the winds are bad again, though not at last week’s level. The first thing I do in the morning is check Watch Duty, an app that reports on fires. There was a new one overnight in Glendale, thankfully contained, as was the small one that broke out three miles from me yesterday. In better news, Armin Shimerman’s cast at Antaeus has begun readings for their upcoming TWELFTH NIGHT. Laura in what’s left of LA |
