Rehearsals Begin this Monday, January 13 for Conversations with Mother Full Creative Team Announced Caroline Aaron and Matt Doyle Star In A New Comedy by Matthew Lombardo Directed by Noah Himmelstein At Theatre 555 Previews begin February 7, Opening Night February 23 Strictly Limited Run Through May 11 New York, NY – Rehearsals for Matthew Lombardo's new off-Broadway comedy, Conversations with Mother, starring Caroline Aaron ("The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel") and Matt Doyle (Tony Award winner for Company ) begin this Monday, January 13. Producers also announced the full creative team: Wilson Chin (set design), Ryan Park (costume design), Elizabeth Harper (lighting design), John Gromada (sound design), Caite Hevner (projection design), and Tom Watson (hair and wig design), and understudies Antoinette LaVecchia (u/s Maria) and John Jeffrey Martin (u/s Bobby). Conversations with Mother will play a limited engagement at Theatre 555 (555 West 42nd Street) beginning February 7 with opening night on February 23; it will run through May 11. Lombardo's semi-autobiographical comedy traces the relationship between Italian matriarch Maria Collavechio (Caroline Aaron) and her gay son (Matt Doyle) spanning the course of five decades. As they continue to test their lifelong bond, the play depicts the outrageously funny and sometimes completely infuriating dynamic between a domineering mother and her rudderless son. The show is produced by Bryan McCaffrey, BPM Theatrical, Laura Z. Barket, Theatre Nerd Productions, and David Shapiro. Showtown Productions (Nathan Gehan and Jamison Scott) serve as executive producer with Showtown Theatricals/Jessica Morrow general managing. MATT DOYLE (Bobby) won the 2022 Tony, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics Circle Awards for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for his performance as Jamie in Broadway's revival of Company. He recently made his UK stage debut starring as Frank Sinatra in the world premiere of Sinatra: The Musical. Broadway credits include Tony-winning musicals The Book of Mormon and Spring Awakening; Tony Award winning Best Play War Horse; and the revival of Bye Bye Birdie. Off-Broadway credits include Little Shop of Horrors, Sweeney Todd, and Brooklynite. Matt has performed at Carnegie Hall with the New York Pops, at symphonies across the country, and continues to headline a sold-out solo show throughout New York City and beyond. ANTOINETTE LaVECCHIA ( u/s Maria) is an award-winning actress and published playwright who has appeared on Broadway, off-Broadway and regionally.
