I would say the Belasco, with it's beautiful Tiffany glass. I know some of it was carelessly destroyed for the "environmental staging" of original Broadway mounting of ROCKY HORROR SHOW in the 1970s, but some survived. And the whole building was beautifully restored prior to the opening of WOMEN ON THE VERGE. It also has the under-stage pool that amazed every critic and audience in 1935 for the original production of DEAD END. The East River was recreated in the theatre, and the Dead End Boys swam in it. The water/pool space still exists (I've seen it). And I won't even mention the haunted apartment on top. All in all, a stunning building! |
