| When she played Judy Garland in a tv movie after her time in "Annie", her vocals were strong but they and her acting lacked anything near the vulnerability or subtlety of Garland when she wasn't belting. Later on, on stage McArdle was quite good (now many years ago) as a replacement Belle in "Beauty and the Beast". However, from some clips I saw of her later on as Miss Hannigan, she hasn't the acting chops for a true comic character role, and she's aged out of ingenues like Belle, though she matured rather beautifully. But she sounds good, so there's always concertizing and possibly some roles which might still suit her. | |
