Liza Minnelli did a great job subbing for Gwen Verdon in Chicago. However, she was a disaster filling in for Julie Andrews in Victor/Victoria. I think she missed something like a third of the performances in a one month period.
She was a fiasco in both The Act and The Rink. She is very well liked, but sadly very unreliable. She was illness plagued in Minnelli on Minnelli, a Broadway concert that lost money. However, she was excellent in Liza's at the Palace, which is where I finally got to see her -- this show recouped. |
