Animals on Broadway: A Famed Trainer Tells All

The New York Historical’s Pets and the City exhibition is a testament to the unique relationship New Yorkers have with their animal companions. In this onstage conversation, the Museum’s vice president and chief curator, Wendy Nālani E. Ikemoto, and famed animal behaviorist and trainer Bill Berloni explore the ties between New Yorkers’ pets and another long abiding New York City institution: show business. Join us for a peek into the world of performing animals, the methods used to train them, and their role in our society, past and present.

Bill Berloni is a Tony Award-winning animal behaviorist and trainer, as well as the author of
Broadway Tails: Heartfelt Stories of Rescued Dogs Who Became Showbiz Superstars. Wendy Nālani E. Ikemoto (moderator) is vice president and chief curator of The New York Historical.
