| Most revivals make choices based on the actors rather than the characters. A production of Hamlet with Lawrence Oliver would be different to one with John Gielguld as they both have different acting energies. The characters don't exist until they are embodied by actors. There were choices made in each Gypsy revival based on what the individual actors brought to the show more than anything that was inherent to the show. Surely that's not unusual in performances? |
